Five cops fired for kidnapping Dubai-based citizen – Breaking News – The Nation

LAHORE – Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan sacked five Kahna Central Investigation Agency (CIA) officials on Saturday for their involvement in illegal activities.

He said there was no place for black sheep in the Punjab police and that severe penalties would be meted out to those involved in corruption and abuse of power.

The IGP also ordered the DIG investigation to meet with the concerned citizen and assure him of severe sanctions against the officials involved. According to details, five Lahore CIA Kahna Police officers along with an individual kidnapped a Dubai-based citizen and released him after taking Rs 200,000 from his family. Police filed a case against the accused officials on the complaint of CIA official Kahna.

A Punjab Police spokesman said ASI Basharat Ali and Constable Amin were arrested while Constable Razzaq, Akhtar Ali, Driver Safdar and a civilian Maqsood would soon be arrested.

Delegation from Muzaffarabad Safe City visits PSCA

A review meeting between senior officials of the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) and Muzaffarabad Safe City was held at the PSCA headquarters, Qurban Lines, on Saturday.

A five-member delegation, under the supervision of Chief Superintendent of Police Riaz Haider, met with DIG Chief Operating Officer, PSCA, Muhammad Kamran Khan.

The delegation was briefed on the functions and structure of the first project of Punjab Safe City Authority. Officers praised the technologies and practices in place which were demonstrated to them in detail, particularly with regard to the intelligent traffic management system and electronic challans.

Officers were briefed in detail on how an intelligent traffic management system works to reduce traffic violations and ultimately traffic accidents. They were further informed about how the data could be used for accident analysis and possible preventive measures could be taken accordingly. Officers also expressed satisfaction with the authority’s ability to record and produce geolocation and vehicle marking data in the metropolis using ANPR technology and a geostrategic grid of capable CCTV cameras.

Director of Operations Muhammad Kamran Khan said that the PSCA will provide maximum technical and operational support to the Muzaffarabad Safe City project in camera installation, command center training, networking and communication. The PSCA has already provided assistance to establish safe and smart city projects in Quetta, Peshawar, Islamabad and Karachi.

Muzaffarabad Safe City officials said that the experience of Punjab Safe Cities Authority would be very beneficial in making Muzaffarabad safe and secure. The PSCA is a masterpiece of modern technology and an achievement of modern police in Pakistan, they added.
