By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “Belize is truly the land of opportunity, and I can assure you that now is the best time to invest,” said Minister of Youth, Sports and E-Governance, Kevin Bernard, during the 6th Annual Florida International Trade and Cultural Expo in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Addressing the âDoing Business with the World: The Caribbeanâ segment of the Expo, Bernard said the government of Belize is committed to doing everything in its power to improve the ease of doing business. in the country.
âEverything is already in place. We take the right investment seriously, investments that will be good for you and good for us. I invite you to take a trip to Belize, and I can promise you that you will not be disappointed, âsaid Bernard, echoing the government’s speech at the recent Belize Investment Summit.
âThe summit was an opportunity for investors to explore the rich potential of a country strategically placed in both Central America and the Caribbean, with easy access to North America, Europe, to Asia and to the world, âsaid Bernard.
He went on to speak about Belize’s resilience in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and how Belize is recovering from its blow.
âThe Summit was the phoenix rising from its ashes, a proverbial that opens doors after a storm, a signal to all that our small but generous nation is once again open for business,â he said.
âToday I want to send the same message to this gathering of business players and investors from Florida and the world – Belize is open for business and is a ripe opportunity for those interested in a wise investment in which is virtually virgin territory, âsaid Bernard.
Praising the virtues of Belize, Bernard spoke about the hemisphere’s largest barrier reef, the Blue Hole, the best fishing, diving and snorkeling in the world. But added that apart from tourism, in Belize “there is ample room for much more investment”.
Bernard said that “if Covid has taught us nothing else, it has taught us resilience in the face of an unprecedented challenge, and it has taught us to seize the day.”
As discussed at the Belize Investment Summit, Minister Bernard spoke again about his ministry called E-Governance, which is leading the way in improving the ease of doing business with Belize by passing legislation that strengthens our financial systems and protects investor money.
âWe have access to international markets, multilateral and bilateral free trade agreements, investment treaties and economic partnerships with Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Asia, the United States and the Arab Emirates united, âBernard said in his speech to More Investments for Belize.
He then discussed the opportunities available in the agro-industry – sugar, citrus fruits, bananas, cereals, spices, cotton; fishing and aquaculture industry – conch, lobster and shrimp; while our marine environment is perfect for harvesting seaweed and sea cucumbers.
âWe have it all, my friends – ecotourism, adventure and cultural tourism, medical tourism, IT outsourcing,â he said.
âI invite you to take advantage of Belize, a country like no other, with opportunities like no other. We are open for business, my friends. See you soon, âconcluded Minister Bernard.
